Let’s make hosting a mother’s day brunch much easier this year. This year, I wanted to curate a menu that feels incredibly special and sophisticated, yet is simple enough to execute without stress.
We are leaning into a bright, botanical theme—featuring fresh mint, vibrant matcha, and sweet spring fruit—balanced by a savory, high-protein main course. I always aim to give my recipes a little something special, which is what a day for mom is all about!
The goal is an elegant ease that lets you focus on what matters: celebrating Mom.

Recipes for a Special Mother’s Day Brunch
The Savory: High Protein Egg Bake
We start our menu with the essential savory dish. This isn’t just any casserole; my mini loaf High Protein Egg Bake gets its satisfying texture from rich cottage cheese and shredded cheese, packed with 5 eggs and plenty of optional vegetables like minced onion and bell pepper.
This recipe makes 2 mini loaves ready to be sliced and served. You can easily double it!
It’s fluffy, golden, and incredibly efficient for hosting because you can customize the mix-ins to Mom’s preference. In daily life, I love to meal prep, so see more meal prep recipes here.
The Sweet indulgence: Strawberry Matcha Bread and Matcha Loaf
For the sweet element, we are featuring adorable matcha based breads! On one side of the table, we feature our decadent, antioxidant-rich Classic Matcha Loaf with Glaze. Its earthy, complex flavor is balanced by a sweet glaze, making it a favorite for matcha purists.
Right next to it, providing a burst of spring color, is its fruity cousin: the Strawberry Matcha Bread. It uses the same matcha flavor , but swirled with strawberry brightness.
These breads are so easy to make because you start with boxed cake mixes!
The Botanical Refreshment Station – Mint Based Drinks and Cocktails
What makes this brunch feel truly resort-quality is the dedicated beverage lineup. We move beyond standard juice with three distinct, mint-infused options. Each drink starts with my homemade mint simple syrup.
First, the essentials, lemonade and tea!
Mint Lemonade
We have pitchers of crisp Mint Lemonade and our deep, amber Double Mint Sweet Tea.
These are refreshing crowd-pleasers that use mint simple syrup to achieve a smooth, botanical sweetness. For guests who prefer a sweet coffee bevvy, I would include my popular Mint Mocha alongside the tea selections; it’s the ultimate sweet espresso drink.
The ‘Mimosa’ Alternative: Watermelon Mojito
While mimosas are classic, this Mother’s Day we are serving a truly unique, resort-style option. My Watermelon Mojito is bright pink, vibrant, and incredibly fresh. Made with white rum, fresh watermelon puree, mint simple syrup, and a surprising splash of heavy cream for sweetness, it’s the ultimate celebration pour.
A Note on Setting the Table for Mother’s Day Brunch
To match the clean, botanical flavors of the menu, keep the decor simple. We used a white farmhouse table, clear glass pitchers, and minimal plating. A small, simple vase of eucalyptus or white tulips provides a elegant, stress-free centerpiece that won’t compete with the food.
The Hostess Game Plan & Timing Guide
Master the Menu: Your Mother’s Day Brunch Game Plan
The secret to being an effortless hostess isn’t having superhuman speed; it’s mastering the timing. This menu is designed to be streamlined. Here is my breakdown of what to make ahead, what to time, and how to execute this botanical brunch without breaking a sweat.
3 Days Before (The Minty Botanical Foundations): The key to that vibrant mint flavor in the lemonade and the mojitos is the syrup. Make your Mint Simple Syrup up to three days in advance. Storing it in an airtight jar in the fridge allows the botanical flavor to deepen, and it eliminates a sticky task on the morning of the brunch.
1 Day Before (The Sweet Stuff): Both the Strawberry Matcha Bread and the Classic Matcha Loaf are super easy to make ahead of time. The flavors meld, the crumb sets, and the glaze hardens perfectly. Bake these 24 hours in advance, wrap them tightly, and store them at room temperature. They are ready to slice the moment guests arrive.
The Mint Lemonade and Double Mint Sweet Tea are both perfect to make a day ahead as well.
Mother’s Day Morning (The Timing Strategy): On the morning of the brunch, your only focus is the main course, assembly, and cocktail at the ready.
- 9:00 AM: Preheat the oven and prepare the Egg Bake. Mix your ingredients for the individual Egg Bake Mini-Loaves in their dishes and have them oven-ready.
- 10:00 AM (or 30 minutes before serving): Put the egg bakes in the oven. They need a solid 25 minutes to become perfectly golden and puffed.
- While they bake (10:15–10:45 AM): Use this hour to mix the rest of your beverages. Slice and puree your watermelon for the Watermelon Mojitos, keeping the juice chilled until serving.
- The Final Minutes (11:00 AM): Guests arrive as the oven timer goes off. The egg bakes are hot, and the house smells amazing. This is when you quickly shake up the Watermelon Mojito with its unexpected cream splash, garnish, and serve immediately.
- Party Time: Greet Mom with a hug and a gift.
Surprise Mom with a Thoughtful Gift – On Theme!
What Should You Bring to Mom?
Don’t overthink mom’s gift – she just wants to be with you. Here is what I recommend:
- A Signature Bouquet (Perfect Pairing): Yes, bring flowers—but if you are feeling extra on this theme, make them purposeful. A thoughtful bouquet that mirrors the flavors of the table is incredibly cohesive. Ask the florist to include plenty of fragrant eucalyptus and fresh garden mint sprigs alongside delicate white tulips or blush ranunculus. This ensures the gift feels connected to the entire inspired environment.
- High-Quality Local Matcha: For the mom who loves a moment of ritual, gift a beautiful canister of ceremonial-grade matcha. My favorite matcha is from Harney & Sons (affiliate link). If you live in North Austin, definitely go check out options at the Steeping Room. Matcha is a gift of wellness that acknowledges the center of our sweet menu.
Here is an example of a bouquet with some mint sprigs thrown in! I love this!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms, and happy hosting!
