Method
Mint Simple Syrup
- If using prepared mint simple syrup, skip to the instructions for mint tea
- Otherwise, prepare mint simple syrup as below.
- In a saucepan, add sugar and water, and stir.
- Turn the heat to medium, and stir every minute or so until the sugar is dissolved. It takes about 5-7 minutes. Don't allow the mixture to boil.
- Once the sugar is dissolved, immediately turn off the heat, and add the mint leaves.
- Steep the leaves for 15 minutes, then strain or remove mint leaves.
Mint Tea
- Boil 4 cups of water. Remove from heat.
- Steep tea bags in hot water for 4 minutes, then remove tea bags.
- Stir in 1/2 cup of mint simple syrup. If you prepared the mint simple syrup above, stir in all of it.
- Fill your glass to the top with ice.
- Pour mint tea over ice. Add more ice to top off the glass.
- Garnish with mint sprigs, if desired.
