Crockpot seasoned shredded chicken breasts

4 cups of seasoned chicken breast perfect for sandwiches, baked potatoes, enchiladas, and more.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 6 hours
Servings: 8
Course: Dinner
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 Tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp salt or to taste (depends on chicken broth)
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Equipment

  • slow cooker

Method

  1. Place chicken breasts in slow cooker.
  2. Add all seasonings to a bowl and stir.
  3. Sprinkle bottom and top of chicken breasts with enough spice mixture to coat chicken breasts, and rub it in. Note: you don't need to use all of the seasoning. The amount allows for different sizes of chicken breasts.
  4. Slowly pour chicken broth over chicken breasts.
  5. Cook chicken on low for 4-7 hours. A larger slow cooker like mine will cook the chicken in 4 hours. A smaller slow cooker might take up to 6 or 7 hours. You can tell chicken is ready when it shreds easily.
  6. Once chicken is cooked, use two forks to shred chicken.
  7. Split chicken into two storage containers and place in fridge for meals, or use immediately.
